Questions I Am Often Asked | ||

Location is top priority for home buyers, but a national survey of nearly 500 real estate agents reveals that appearance also plays a large part in buyers’ first impressions. Many real estate agents suggest sellers do several things to improve the appearance of their home: Clean the home. A good “spring” cleaning creates an uplifting feeling and lets buyers know the home has been well cared for. Make minor repairs. A house that needs repairs, even routine maintenance, looks like work to a buyer. Reduce clutter so it is easier for the buyer to imagine his or her own furniture and décor in your home. Neutralize odors. Air out the house, use an odor-removal spray on fabric items, light candles or bake cookies to fill the house with a pleasant smell. Update the décor. This can be as simple as a fresh coat of paint in a warm, neutral color to make the house feel clean and
spacious.
| ![]() Halloween Safety Tips for Homeowners •Make sure the yard is clear of items that can trip children (hoses, flower pots) • Use a battery powered jack o’lantern if possible • If you do use candles, place the pumpkin in a place children won’t walk into it, and don’t put decorations too close to candles • Healthy food treats are great for trick or treaters (packaged cheese and crackers, fruit rolls, raisins) • Non-food treats are great too (plastic rings,
pencils, stickers, erasers, or coins)
Halloween Safety Tips for Parents • Be sure your child has had dinner before heading out • Always have your children accompanied by an adult • If the child is old enough to be alone, make sure they wear a watch and carry a flashlight. • Give your children quarters so they can call home if lost • Make sure the child’s costume is flame retardant • Know where your children are going • Inspect candy and throw away any suspicious-looking pieces

Question:How do I search online for a loan? Answer: If you’re searching online for loan options, be sure to research lenders in the same way you would consider a traditional bank, says Fannie Mae. Learn the company’s online privacy and security policies — a yellow padlock symbol shows that the site is private and secure — and note when and how you can contact a lender directly during the mortgage process.
